Origin Story

ilusión is a concept created from my love of craft cocktails, moody design, family recipes, and a great time. The menu is inspired by the authentic Mexican cuisine and street food of Mexico City and Los Angeles where my mother was born and raised. I grew up in Mansfield and when I decided to move back home post college, I longed for the hidden gem cocktail lounges I’ve grown to love in New York & LA. Though there’s plenty to find in Fort Worth and Dallas, I wasn’t always up for a 45 minute drive from home. So I thought.. “What if I did it?”

“ilusión” can be translated in English to delusion, whimsical and optimistic thinking or to have your head in the clouds. Our cocktail menu and concept mirror these ideas through dreamy names of mythology highlighting similar stories, beliefs and ultimate downfalls as well as lessons learned. The concept’s origin is highly motivated by Pablo Picasso’s famous quote “Everything you can imagine, is Real.” which can be read on our bright red neon sign at the bar. Though I had no idea what I was in for when we first began working toward this in 2022, here we are. Not without my family’s help of course, and our incredible staff! Thank you for visiting, and we will continue growing and improving to best meet our customers expectations of a great experience! - Nathalie
